The Basics - October 07, 2003

MojoMark is the online presence of Mark A. Johnson, a Technical Project Manager specializing in Oracle Web Applications Development residing in a southwest suburb of Portland, Oregon. Married with two toddlers, Mark tries to balance family life, work life, and the constant tweakage of this here little ol' website.

My day job is to build websites, specifically, web applications that use the Oracle database and are accessed using a web browser. After the day job is done, I begin my most important job: Husband and Father. Thankfully, our kid's bedtime is early, and my stay-at-home-mom wife and I can have some quiet time together in the evening. After a tough day in the trenches, the wife retires and I am back on the computer, either surfing, or goofing off with the software that runs this site.

My approach to content on this site is personal. I will generally write about touching, warm, and sometimes funny stories of living with two toddlers. Sometimes I will relay funny stories not related to the kids that I either hear about, or get sent through other means. When I see news stories that touch my sarcastic brain, or piss me off, they may also get some time on this blog. I don't normally discuss work, or issues at work. There are too many people who have seen repercussions from blogging about work from people who may or may not control my future.

I accept content submissions from my readers through the comments form offered on nearly all items on this site. All comments are subject to my Terms of Service, which, in a nutshell, says I have editorial rights on everything, and reserve the right to delete your comment if I find it contains those undefinable you-know-it-when-you-see-it qualities. This is my site, I can take the toys and leave when I want to. When you leave a comment on the site, I'll be notified immediately. You can also always reach me privately via the Email link in the navigation bar.

I am inspired to blog by lots of other bloggers; most of whom are on my list of Daily Reads. I think these people are wildly creative, and I hope that on occasion, I can ascend to the heights those folks do on a regular basis.

About this Site - October 07, 2003

This website is dynamically generated using an Oracle database, Oracle's Web Application Server, PL/SQL programs, primarily HTML with a little sprinkling of JavaScript.

This site is all me. The server was built by me in 2001 and I created and maintain the software that presents the content. While there are plenty of packages out in the world to create a website like this, I like to build things, and this forum gives me an opportunity to create tools and build techniques that I can use at work. This site is my web laboratory, and it is sometimes broken while I try out new things.
