Re-Boot - August 29, 2002

You can consider the 18 month absence a benefit. I obviously didn't have anything to write about so I didn't.

That's probably not a completely true statement. The birth of my Daughter should have inspired some writing. But alas, I didn't.

I'm going to begin working on the site in the next week or two. While there won't be a huge difference in its appearance, Here are the primary objectives of this effort:

  1. Make the site standards based.
  2. Code for only those browsers that comply to standards(IE5+, NS6+ etc).
  3. Don't use tables for formatting (this is to separate the content of the site from it's format).
  4. I may do some XML,XSL,XHTML playing around.
  5. I may also do some Java playing around.
  6. Improve the visual style of the site. (it's not bad now, in fact I still like the layout and design).
  7. Focus on the Photo Gallery to make it more "me" friendly. Currently it's a bit tedious to update the pictures and it would be nice if I could do the interface so that Marie could do it too.
  8. Make this weblog (aka blog) more active and visible.
  9. Use a subscription process and an automated email to inform people when updates take place.

That's about it for now.
