Friday Five - April 04, 2003

The Friday Five is a website that encourages bloggers by giving them a topic for each Friday. I read some blogs who do it regularly and some who make fun of it. I watch it, and if it seems interesting, I'll do it occasionally.

1. How many houses/apartments have you lived in throughout your life? Hmm. lots.

  1. MontebelloWhittier, CA
  2. Sacramento #1, CA
  3. UPDATE: Sacramento #2, CA
  4. Dorian Dr. Bakersfield
  5. White Lane #1
  6. White Lane #2
  7. Encinitas Dorm, Pomona
  8. San Dimas Cyn Rd,
  9. San Jose Ave,Claremont
  10. Concord St, Glendale
  11. Stocker St, Glendale
  12. Watseka, West LA

  16. 2nd St Long Beach
  17. Maplewood Drive in Tigard Oregon
  18. Current house.
18 addresses. I wonder if that's a lot?

2. Which was your favorite and why?
1 bdr on PCH in HB was the coolest place. Although I didn't get to enjoy the amenities. Trabuco, and Sawston Circle was the most fun as a bachelor. 2nd St in LB was probably the cutest.

3. Do you find moving more exciting or stressful? Why?
Then it was not too bad. Now it would suck. Just due to the sheer volume of stuff we've acquired.

4. What's more important, location or price?
Location.

5. What features does your dream house have (pool, spa bath, big yard, etc.)?
Big yard, 1-story, each room fully wired, dedicated office and home theater.

Let's Play Who Doesn't Belong - April 03, 2003

I normally don't discuss work on this blog. For one, it would be mostly technobabble, and while I think about this stuff all day, there is no need to regurgitate it in this forum. 2ndly, it's been pretty depressing lately, and I see no reason to express my frustration with work in this forum. And Third, I've read about people writing about work on their 'blogs, stating the truth, and getting fired. I may not love my company, but the unemployment line sucks more.

But I just got finished with one of "those" conference calls, discussing project status, issues, schedule, budget yadda yadda yadda. The participants on this call were Abhradeep, Divakar, Praful, Mayank, Sanjay, Tanvir, Rushh, Sreenivas and Mark.

Which one doesn't belong?

Coffee Anyone? - April 03, 2003

I've heard that in Seattle there is a Starbucks on every corner. Yeah, sure.. whatever I thought. But on my first business trip here, working in the heart of the downtown area, and being walking distance between office and hotel, I've found that it's nearly true!

Now I do realize that this is the home of Starbucks. They have quite a large HQ building just south of downtown past Safeco field. But I'm not kidding that in my .8 mile walk from hotel to office, I must pass at least 14 coffee joints, primarily Starbucks, but a couple of Tullys, Seattle's Best, and a knockoff or two. I wonder if Google can tell me how many Starbucks there are in Seattle's downtown "free-fare" area?. UPDATE: Starbuck's own store locator gave me 334 in Seattle. I counted only up to 18 close to my location before I realized this was stupid.

Do people really drink or even need that much coffee? It is cold and windy, and a warm drink sure can come in handy. Or maybe it's the grey skies, and it's the caffeine they are after. I don't drink the stuff - I prefer an ice cold Coca-cola to get me through the next hour or so. But really... 14 in less than a mile?

Poopie Stories - April 03, 2003

Dooce has a pretty funny poop story to share. My favorite is the Christmas Poop Story. I'm sure we will never let Garrett forget. Hopefully, he will be famous someday and I can use it as greenmail!
